Front Cover Font Research

Due to the theme of my magazine and my target audience I have chosen to look at quite 'sans serif' fonts as to make it more formal and professional looking as this type of magazine would be, which can be seen in the first picture. I also decided I needed a colourful title as to add a bit of colour to the otherwise black and white cover. I chose red as I had seen it used on many other magazines and felt it had the right look and feel for my magazine. I did play around with a background colour however I felt it was too much and would have possibly come off as tacky and messy. The only possibility that does not do so is to have a background with a white text overlay which would bring me back to the issue I was having with the fully black and white cover. I have also chosen to go for a plain font as opposed to adding effects or other details as I feel there is no need to change it around and this way I can stick with the simplicity I want in the cover.
